Tournament Regulations Cancún Soccer Cup will be ruled by FIFA’s and Mexican Football Federation’s (FMF) standards.

Competition System

Teams will be divided in groups of 3 or 4 teams that will confront among each other. First and second places of each group will classify to the final rounds depending on the number of contestants on each category. These will confront on direct elimination until we a winner is chosen.

10 minutes

Soccer Balls

Each team will take their soccer balls to the field depending on the soccer ball number to be used on their category.

Ball # 5
Men 92-93, 94-95, 96-97, Women 91-92, 93-94 y 95-96

Ball # 4
Men 98-99, 2000-01, 02-03 Women 97-98 y 99-2000

Classifying criteria

1st Phase

In case of tie in points on final classification between two (or more) teams, the classifying criteria for breaking a tie will be the following.

1st Final score of the matches played among them.
2nd Goal difference
3rd Greater number of scored goals considering all matches.
4th Least of red cards.
5th Least of yellow cards.
6th Raffle.

2nd Phase

Final Phase matches that end in tie will be decided without extension, by a series of 5 penalty shots and if tie continues sudden death will be used until a winner is chosen; penalties shooters will only be those who end the match.

Number of players and Substitutions

A team will be able to subscribe a maximum of 18 players per match in the registration act. A maximum of 7 switches is permitted including the goalkeeper. The replaced players will be able to enter the field once again.

Category Switches

It is not allowed to use players from the same club in different categories. No player will be registered in 2 categories or teams.

Minimum of players to start a Match

A team will be able to start a match with a minimum of 8 players, it will be completed up to the first period, once the second period has begun no more players will be able to enter the field and the team shall end the match with the same number of players as on the second period.

Default Matches

In case of a default match the store will be 2 – 0.

Players will be only able to play with cards issued by the tournament administration.

Papers

15 minutes before each match, delegates shall deliver their lineup sheet with the corresponding data and the players and delegates register.

Costumes

Every shirt will have a number and these shall match with the lineup sheets.

Usage of aluminum heels shoes is not allowed.

Punctuality

Time schedules will be strict. Teams must be prepared 15 minutes before the match starts. If this is not the case and tournament organization did not find an important reason justifying the delay, match will be lost and score will be 2-0.

Punishments

The player expelled with direct red card will be suspended during 2 matches minimum. The player that gathers 3 yellow cards will be punished with on match.

If a team showed violent behavior during the competition (incorrect complaints against referees, inadequate speech, violent behavior of the staff, arguing with team managers and with organization members, etc.) This team shall be removed from the tournament.

Referees

The referee will be the highest authority within the field, his decisions and writings on his notebook will be irrevocable and he will have the power of suspending the match in case of any negative attitude on a team’s behavior.

Protests

Protests or claims shall be delivered in writing to the person responsible of the field, before 60 minutes after such match is finished. Protest fee costs $1000.00 Mexican pesos and will be paid at the same time that claiming is delivered. Protest fee will be reimbursed if claim is accepted.

Organization Committee will not accept protests derived from referee performance.

Honour and Justice Committee

This committee consists of 5 people, 3 from Collage of Referees and 2 from the Cancun Soccer Cup Organization Committee. This committee will meet with fields’ responsibles everyday after matches are finished and will analyze each and every incident occured during the day. Every decision this committee takes shall be unappealing and all contestants with no exemptions shall respect these decisions.

Insurance

All teams must have their staff and players insured in and out the field. Cancun Soccer Cup is not responsible for injuries, illnesses losses or burglaries during such event.

Match Suspention

Matches can be suspended for teams’ bad behavior, for mayor causes, rain, electric store or any other reason that could risk physical integrity of the contestants. Match suspension and final store or a winner chosen will be organization committee decision.
